Barrel Monkey is the forecast LimitBreak built for the Atlantic run: 31 South West spots on a live map, a 48-hour swell and wind score grid, and spot pages with tide clocks and local Go/Wait calls — not a global dashboard.

The challenge
Surfers lost Magic Seaweed-style local depth when global tools pulled back from the UK coast. The product needed to feel built for Devon, Cornwall, and South Wales only, stay fast at scale, and never hammer forecast APIs on every page view.
Our approach
We shipped a Next.js platform with a cron-fed forecast desk (Open-Meteo marine and weather), WorldTides clocks, Mapbox maps, and scoring for wrap, wind against beach aspect, and tide windows. Pages read the snapshot; spot detail, timetable, and map pins share one exposed swell story.
The outcome
Live at barrelmonkey.surf — map, timetable, spot pages, and merch — with infrastructure tuned for three-hour refreshes and a product voice written by people who actually surf these breaks.
